Park's Senior leaders have thoroughly enjoyed continuing their learning journey to ensure best practice leadership #NPQH #CPD #ProfessionalLearning #CharteredCollegeofTeaching #Impact
Today's work is the culmination of weeks of planning, drafting and editing. The Year 9 students are incredibly proud of their final narrative pieces as is Mrs Howlett. A win to take us into the weekend... #HardWorkPaysOff #TeamPark #LearningWalk #EnglishLanguage
A group of 28 of our ambitious Year 9 students submitted some fantastic applications to enter this year's Boat Race Challenge. Dr Farry had the tough job of short-listing these applications to 12 students. Today, our 12 students are attending one of the selection days held at Nelson and Colne College. They will be competing in a series of challenges alongside other local schools to become one of the 6 Park students to go through. The next stage will see them competing in a University Challenge style quiz and in Year 10, they will have the exciting opportunity to visit Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
Starting their day the right way. Year 11 Food Preparation & Nutrition students can come and make breakfast before school, get revising or completing their coursework. Breakfast is served in 315!
Year 7 have been developing their bridge and claw method for cutting food safely while using different coloured chopping boards to prevent cross-contamination. Next year they will build on these skills by making the pizza dough instead of using pre-made bread for the base.
Year 10 have been working through their fat, oil & sugar module. This week they made profiteroles, filled with fresh cream and dipped in dark chocolate. Part of the module involves learning about the hydrophobic properties of fat and how it interacts with water when cooking.
Year 9 have been working through their dairy module by making ice cream, rice pudding and crème anglaise. Students have been learning how to use a bain-marie to cook their custard over. They then served it over some jam sponge, perfect for this cold weather.
As year 7 & 8 move through their design & technology rotations we celebrate those who showed Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication skills while in the kitchen during term 1. Pupils were presented with cook books, so they can continue to develop their skills at home. Congratulations!
Thank you to the CPA champions for all your hard work.
