County Indoor Athletics

The Year 8 team qualified for the Lancashire Schools Indoor Athletic finals which were held today.

After qualifying at Pendle Schools Sports Hall athletics, 7 year 8 boys travelled to Blackpool for the Lancashire County Finals on Wednesday competing against 14 other schools in the county in a range of events including sprints, throws, jumps and relay races. The field events got off to a fantastic start with Iva winning both of his events, Shawn Apinoko put in a fantastic jump and Cobie Storey flying over the speed bounce!

The first race was the obstacle relay race which was a test of speed, agility and strength in which our boys came second in the field getting us off to a great start. Following this, John Collinson and Shawn Apinoko competed in the 2 lap race with John finishing second with his incredible speed. Iva Mfecane stepped in for Jacob Horsefield in the 6 lap race when he was struck down with injury. Iva dug deep and put in a great effort right up to the finish line. Cobie Storey and Riley Warren collaborated to compete in the 8 lap paarlauf, showing excellent determination and strength in such a difficult event. During the final race, John Collinson, Jacob Horsefield and Iva Mfecane ran ambitiously throughout the race. John got Park off to a fantastic start but a hiccup on the third change over left the boys trailing. However, Brody found some speed and caught up to the final change over handing over to Jacob Horsefield. Jacob brought us through to triumph coming first in the relay race! Congratulations to the Year 8 boys Park team gaining 6th place, a fantastic achievement!!
