Year 9 victory

Year 9 7-a-side

On a cold Friday the Year 9 team travelled to Fishermore to take part in the Pendle Schools 7-a-side tournament.  In the opening game against Pendle Vale the team looked composed on the ball and passed it well to create lots of chances.  Goals from Oliver Martindale, Ethan Cothliff and Sam Hilton meant it was a great start.  In the 2nd game we faced the hosts, Fishermore.  An excellent team performance in which goalkeeper George Hopkinson and defenders Max Reeves and Oliver Ormerod stood out meant that we kept a clean sheet.  At the other end we grabbed a goal through Ethan Cothliff to take a 1-0.  This meant we went into the final game knowing a win or draw would see us Champions.  A tense game with few chances was locked at 0-0 for a long while despite the excellent play of Harley Doney who passed the ball very well.  Arthur Gorman entered the game from the bench and had an immediate impact, winning the ball to set of an attack which saw Sam Hilton score the winner.

Three games, three wins, Pendle Champions.  The boys were excellent and fully deserved the win - well done to all involved.
