Drama lessons at Park

In Year 7, Drama lessons at Park have very specific goals, based around building our students' communication skills, developing confidence and learning how to collaborate effectively. These goals are intrinsically linked to our school's core values of Ambition, Respect and Collaboration but at their heart, they are designed to instil a sense of creativity and joy in the classroom.
In lessons, students have been working alongside Park's Drama Teacher, Mr Calvert, to explore a wide range of activities and tasks, including improvisation, storytelling, mime and physical theatre, and have been having great fun as they do! Currently, Year 7 are working on how we can use facial expression, physicality and non-verbal cues to convey meaning to an audience, and over the next few lessons will be working in small groups to devise their own short pieces of physical theatre.
Children who study Drama learn to step outside themselves, explore different perspectives, and express their emotions in a safe space, which can greatly benefit their personal development, and at Park High School, we're proud to put this ideology into practice during every KS3 Drama lesson.
